To my angel baby,
The idea to write you letters came to me from a blog I read of a couple having difficulty getting pregnant. She wrote great advice, sweet thoughts, and I thought of you each time! One day when you're older I will give you all of the letters so you will know how love and wanted you were before you even got here!
So... here it is...our IVF journey began today!
We left the house an hour before our appointment. Your daddy and I wanted to make sure we were there early! (You probably know by now that we are sticklers for being on time.) We pulled in and took our first "day 1 selfie!!!" You can see in the picture how excited our smiles are. We went up to the second floor to check in and we anxiously waited for our names to be called. While we were waiting a man was in the lobby holding a baby. She was giggly, smiley, and at one point had the sweetest little hiccups. I sat there and pictures that being you in our arms. It was a sweet little fantasy which passed the time before our names were finally called.
We went back to see our doctor and talk in his office (Doctor Whelan). He started to tell us that we are a case of unexplained infertility. Your daddies "swimmers" are strong and has a lot of them! Your mommy has great eggs and a healthy belly for a baby to be. However, mommy has tubes that are being stubborn. They just don't want to help the egg and swimmers meet up. So, after many big words and lots of head nods, we decided on the IVF process.
We met our team of nurses who seemed so happy and excited for us! We learned a lot about this process and your daddy handled it all very well. (especially the part when the nurse told your daddy that some of the meds would make me a mood swinging looney-toon.) After a presentation and a LOT of information, we had to give some blood. Just one of the many blood samples we will have to give up. (But, who cares? You will be so worth it!) Then we sat with a financial person to give us our big fat bill for this procedure. (Your daddy is so good with numbers! I already wonder if you'll be great at math like he is..your daddy has it all worked out and isn't the least bit stressed about making it all work!)
We finally left after about 3 hours in the doctors office. Our hearts were excited but our bellies were empty. (We hadn't eaten a thing all day!) We left the doctor's office and went to The Cheesecake Factory. We chowed down on pizza, salad, and cheesecake. We talked about all of the paperwork that was given to us and of course, we talked about YOU!
We are so excited to have YOU with us and not just the thought and ideas of you! For now, the thoughts and ideas are what we have as we begin this process.
We love you so much already.
xox,
Mommy
Here are some pictures from our day at the doctor's office and lunch!
Do you see how big our smiles are little one??? We are beyond excited to get this process started. We are one step closer to meeting YOU!
REACH is our doctor's office where your mommy and daddy will spend a lot of time! You're worth every second though.
We were meeting with one of the nurses and receiving tons of information about how we were going to start our process. The very sweet nurse told me that I needed to drink a lot of water and stay hydrated. She said "you're drinking water now so that won't be a problem for you!" Hmmmm, between me and you little one, this was full of coffee!!! (Mommy LOVES coffee)
Daddy had to get some blood drawn today too!
These pens made your mommy so happy and giggle a lot! They are pens with eggs and little "Swimmers" in there ... (man, by the time you are reading these letters we will definitely have had to have the "birds and the bees" talk. If you are a boy, daddy will handle that conversation!)
Smile daddy!!
Mmmmm it was lunch time! Both your mommy and daddy chowed down on pizza and salad... (we LOVE pizza!)
